Sizing Options for Type 3 Turbidity Curtains

I am wondering about type 3 turbidity curtain sizes. Does this barrier have standard sizes or are they all custom built? Does the material allow of water to flow through the barrier?

Answer: Similar to our other turbidity curtain sizes, the Type 3 Turbidity Curtain is available in the following standard lengths and depths:

  • Lengths: 50 ft. or 100 ft. Sections
  • Depths: 5 ft. Standard (3 ft. to 100 ft. Available)

Materials & Curtain Components

Construction of the turbidity curtains is designed to include components that help keep the barrier in place in moving water locations. Standard design of the curtain includes the following components:

  • Impermeable Fabrics
  • Top Marine Grade Flotation
  • Bottom Ballast Chains
  • Tension Cables
  • Section Connectors

Type 3 Turbidity Curtain Sizes and Specifications

As seen above, the standard design of the Type 3 Curtain is constructed with an impermeable fabric material equipped to contain silt, sediment and other materials. For placement in your location, curtains are designed to sit at a height of about one foot (1') from the floor of your water location. This will help to prevent buildup or collapse of the curtain.

Permeable Barriers

If flow through is needed for your location, permeable barriers are also available. These turbidity curtains will feature the same standard components, but will include a panel of geotextile filter material. This will allow filtered water to successfully flow through the curtain.
