Steel Oil Spill Containment Valve

Oil Spillage Prevention and Control

Steel Oil Spill Containment ValvePreventing and containing spills is a necessary concern of any large scale oil-focused sites and industries. Between cost and environmental impact, how to contain oil spills becomes the corporate worry. GEI Works offers the solution in the oil spill containment valve.

This stainless steel oil stop valve fits most containment sumps and oil water separators. Everything flows normally when there is only water in the discharge pipe. When an accident occurs, the ballasted float will move down with the gravity of the oil. The float seals the discharge port before the oil can escape, preventing the spill from going any farther.

Better suited than the PVC model for colder climates or fire risks due to its stainless steel construction, the oil spill containment valve has multiple customization options. It has five sizes for discharge piping – 4", 6", 8", 10", and 12". The steel pipe can also be extended through the sump wall for better fire security. The optional slave valve allows automated reopening of the discharge pipe after use.

Oil Spill Containment Valve Add-Ons

GEI Works offers options for the oil stop valve to fit any oil spill prevention needs. Depending on the climate and site specifics, certain choices are recommended for ideal use.

Slave Valve OptionWater/Oil Level Switch - Alarms and alerts are critical to attempts to curtail oil spills before they become a serious problem. The level switch connects to a facility's overflow warning controls to ensure immediate notice of any accidents or issues.

Slave Valve - A recommended addition to any oil stop valve, the slave valve allows automated reopening of the discharge pipe by resetting the ballasted float to its regular position. This is particularly useful when the oil containment valve is in a difficult-to-reach area, such as an oil water separator on the opposite side of a huge operation.

A freeze protection package with an immersion heater is also available; however, the stainless steel oil stop valve does not normally need one, except with the possible exception of extremely frigid environments.
