PVC Oil Spill Containment Valve
Solutions to Stop Oil Spills
The PVC oil spill containment valve offered by GEI Works is designed to confine potential spills to a facility or work site. Oil spill prevention is a serious concern for a number of industries in the US and around the world, such as transportation, aviation, and petrochemical. Because the cost and consequences of an oil spill are potentially catastrophic, each industry needs an oil containment system. Clean up becomes easier and more cost effective with a much smaller space to handle in a private area.
The oil stop valve fits into the separator or catch basin of an existing oil containment system. Larger systems are accommodated by using multiple units in unison. When an oil spill occurs, the only moving part of the valve, a ballasted float, loses its buoyancy as oil levels increase until it settles and seals the discharge port. The oil is confined to the building, and the port will not reopen until manually fixed.
The PVC oil spill containment valve model is the most economic version available. Due to the corrosion-resistant build, it is an excellent choice for warm climates. Discharge piping is available in 4", 6", and 8" sizes.

Oil Spill Containment Valve Options
GEI Works offers options for the oil stop valve to fit any oil spill prevention needs. Depending on the climate and site specifics, certain choices are recommended for ideal use.
Slave Valve - The slave valve ensures automatic operation of the main float, as opposed to manual reset after closure. This is particularly useful when the oil stop valve is difficult to reach. The slave valve is also recommended if evaporation or other issues cause the main float to seal due to a lack of water.
Water/Oil Level Switch - Most facilities have alarms or controls for overflow warning and prevention. The level switch connects to those systems for quick oil spillage prevention and control alerts.
Freeze Protection Package - While PVC oil stop valve is generally used in warmer areas, a freeze protection package is available for those areas with greatly differing temperatures between seasons. The flanged immersion heater bolts directly to the tank and is controlled with a thermostat.
Oil Spill Containment Valve Applications
Solutions to stop oil spills are necessary in a variety of industries and facilities. Any sites that use large amounts of oil for any purpose benefit with an oil stop valve in the oil containment system. A small selections of application areas include:
- Power Plants and Substations
- Military Facilities
- Transportation Fueling Stations
- Post-Oil Water Separator
