Protective Boom to Trap Debris
Protective Floating Barrier for Debris Control
Question: Need a protective boom to trap debris around a platform. We have a platform in the Caribbean sea. It houses live animals. We are protected against the full force of the sea because we are behind a reef. I would like to encircle the platform with a protective boom which traps debris on the surface and immediately below. The area would be aprox 110 m x 120 m.
Answer: Thank you for contacting us! For protection and containment around a platform, one the best options might be one of our Floating Debris Containment Booms. The debris protective boom is a permanent or temporary measure installed for pollution control, containment and recovery of floating trash, debris, timber, urban waste or aquatic plants.

Protective Floating Boom and Barrier Options
Protective booms can be made in a wide range of styles and materials to successfully contain items such as trash, plastic, floating logs, food, and other materials that may fall from your platform. Material options have included:
- Stainless Steel/Galvanized Steel
- HDPE Material
Choosing the best style or option for you area can often depend on the materials you are trying to contain, as well as various water conditions. Larger items such as logs and timbers are often easier to contain with steel or trashmesh options due to their higher strength.
Our standard protective boom to trap debris is easy to deploy from the shore or small work boat where floating litter, aquatic plants and trash can be collected at the shore line. This material can be readily recovered by the storm water or public works departments. Removable Trash Baskets or Nets simplify this process. Read more on the Debris Trash Barrier page.
This economical containment boom design is suitable to contain small timbers, styrofoam, litter, and aquatic plants and is the work horse of our debris boom family.
