GEI Works Patents for Stormwater Filtration
Innovative Storm Drain Solutions
Stormwater filtration has become a serious concern to businesses and cities around the world. GEI Works prides itself on researching and developing new, innovative ways to provide simple, effective storm drain solutions.
We have designed and developed storm drain filters and other products, which we have registered and patented with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. For more information, browse our stormwater filtration innovations below.

Curb Inlet Filter
As our newest patented stormwater solution, the Curb Inlet Filter prevents sediment and debris from entering curb drains while providing stormwater filtration. It installs easily, fitting into the mouth of the drain, out of sight from pedestrians, street sweepers, and cyclists. With a lifespan of 6 to 12 months, curb inlet filters supply long lasting protection against stormwater pollution and contamination.
Made from strong geotextile fabrics, the curb inlet filter design uses two supporting rods to hold the debris hopper stable within the curb drain. Overflow ports across the top allow continuous water flow even when the hopper is full. Curb inlet filters are available in a wide variety of widths to fit most curb drains. The concept is covered under U.S. Patent No. 10,323,401.
Over Grate Drain Filter
The patented Taurus Over the Drain Debris Filter fits easily over flat grates and drains in parking lots, streets, and sidewalks. It installs quickly and safely with minimal manpower. The proprietary fastening system allows the filter to lay flat against the grate and remain low-profile. It doesn't interfere with foot traffic or street sweepers.
Our over the drain debris filter is constructed using strong, durable materials. The bulk of the drain guard is constructed from a monofilament filter fabric with an optional diamond mesh overflow window. It is available in either high or low visibility colors to stand out or blend in with its surroundings. The design is falls under U.S. Patent No. 10,053,383 B2.
The patented Taurus Ditch Check acts as a check dam for sediment and stormwater filtration in culverts, weirs, and ditches. It filters and slows the speed of water flowing through an area, particularly during strong rain events. As a temporary dam, the ditch check provides stabilization to construction and building projects in areas with large amounts of water flow.
The self-rising design (U.S. Patent No. 10,196,183 B2) also works as a sediment trap to keep debris and silt from entering waterways. Overflow ports minimize water pooling and encourage increased filtration. The ditch check can even be used with flocculants to settle sediment at a quicker rate. Custom sizing is available to fit most projects and job sites.
