Geotextile Filter Fabric for Drainage & Filtration
4.5 oz. Nonwoven Geotextile Filter Fabric
The 4.5 oz. nonwoven geotextile filter fabric is the perfect material for drainage and filtration applications. Constructed from a series of needle punched pores, geotextile filter fabrics allow water to flow through the material while blocking sediment, silt, and other aggregates. This provides effective protection in areas dealing with filtration requirements or erosion control.
The 4.5 oz. fabric is classified as a light weight nonwoven fabric and features an approximate water flow rate of 120 gpm/ft². When compared to medium or heavy duty models, light weight fabrics offer a higher level of permeability. This has made them a common choice for use around pipes, french drains, asphalt overlay, or separation under pavers.

Nonwoven Geotextile Filter Fabric Applications
The nonwoven geotextile fabric is a common choice for areas looking to stabilize, separate, or filter materials. Some of the most common areas where these fabrics have been used include the following:
Asphalt Overlay: Nonwoven filter fabric can be an excellent choice for locations needed an asphalt overlay material. Due to their light weight exterior and filtration exterior, these geotextiles help to form an extra layer that works to prevent cracking and provides a higher level of flexibility to the pavement.
French Drains: Another common use for these light weight fabrics is with french drain systems. When installed in these areas, filter fabrics work to limit the flow of sediment into the system. This prevents clogging of the drains while still keeping the drain operational.
Additional use for these geotextile filter fabrics include the following:
- Soil Erosion Prevention
- Erosion and Ground Control Applications
- Road Repair Applications
- Road Restoration Jobs
- Filtration Applications
- Drainage Requirements
