Where Have Coir Wattles Been Used?
Sediment Control for Construction Projects: Coir coconut fiber wattles are often implemented on construction sites to help prevent sediment from leaving the area due to moving equipment or construction site activities. Their ability to effectively filter materials has also made them perfect for handling stormwater runoff as it leaving the site.
Check Dams for Water Diversion Channels: Coir fiber wattles are also built to create check dams so that permanent vegetation can grow through the wattle over time and build easy to maintain vegetative channels.
Slope Length Reduction in Steep Slopes: Wattles are also a great choice for slope length reduction.
Stormwater Runoff Control: As mentioned above, one of the most beneficial features of these wattles is their ability to filter water as it flows through the wattle. This has allowed wattles to be placed in front of curb inlets or bent around storm drains to help protect water systems. Other Coir Product Options
Extremely similar in both design and construction is the product shown below, known as the Coir Log. Coconut fiber logs are densely packed erosion control options used for tougher erosion control requirements, such as along stream banks, riverbanks, and slopes.
