Coir Log Installation

The most common installation method for the coir logs involves a process of trenching and staking. After your location has been cleared of debris and other obstructions, a small trench can be dug for placement of the logs. Each log can then be placed inside the trench and staked. Spacing for the stakes will vary depending on your location and water flows. Typical staking placement is as follows:

Staking/Anchoring Layout
Stream Flow Dia. of Log Anchor Height Anchor Spacing
Large Heavy 20" 4' min. Every 2'
Large Moderate 16" 3' min. Every 2.5'
Medium Moderate 12" 30" min. Every 3'
Medium Low 12" 30" min. Every 3.5'

Silt Checks

coir silt checkSimilar to erosion control wattles, Silt Checks are a small biodegradable product used as filters in streams, channels, and drainage ditches. Working to both filter silt and stabilize streams, silt checks feature a top wattle with erosion control matting/skirts on either side. This stabilize the bottom area of a location while simultaneously filtering and controlling silt.

Silt Checks are a great way to filter runoff prior to collection in basins or drainage off of your site.
