How can I use a Debris Boom to Stop Messes during Bridge Repair?

Question: I am looking for a debris boom for bridge repair. I would like to know, are your bridges up to code? Also, how do I go about repairing a bridge without leaving a mess?

Answer:

Thank you for contacting us! Granite Environmental is a supplier of water pollution products and does not specifically have individual bridges that we alone use.

In general, The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) makes regular bridge inspections. Bridges that are deemed "structurally deficient" must be repaired or replaced within the next 6 years. If it is considered "functionally obsolete" it means that the bridge does not meet current road design standards, which also results in either repair or replacement.

How do I Repair a Bridge Without Leaving a Mess?

floating debris boomRepairing or replacing a water bridge can result in quite a bit of debris with only one place to go: the water; but collection, containment, and clean-up of that debris can be made easier when using a boom lift/up and under boom lift with a debris boom. A floating containment boom will allow liquids to flow through while the trash and debris are trapped.

A debris boom for bridge repair could vary in design and styles depending on what you are trying to store. Because you are specifically looking to contain falling objects, the standard debris boom model would probably work best.

Alternative Options

As an alternative to the debris boom, you might want to also one of our Turbidity Barrier Options. While a standard barrier will only differ slightly from a debris in the length of its skirt, we have often built site-specific barriers for special projects.

One of these containment options has been a silt barrier for use during bridge repair. Unlike the standard barrier, this model fits around pilings and decks to create a specific containment system around these products.
