Containment and Spill Berm for Placement

Question regarding a spill containment berm: I have a big chemical storage cabinet that stands on wood floor and I need to cover the floor to protect against spills. Do you have something for this or if wood floor is permitted for environmental regulations?

Hello! Thanks for contacting Granite Environmental. I would be more than happy to help you find what you need. Protection for your floors can come in a couple of different options depending on exactly what type of containment or protection you require.
If you are looking to stay in compliance with environmental regulations or with secondary spill regulations, you will want to use one of our Containment and Spill Berm. These berms feature a bottom liner and side walls. When placed in a location, the liner will work to protect against floor spills while the walls will work to successfully contain spills, if they occur.
Containment berms are a favorite for areas requiring 110% containment of their storage tanks. Options for these products include the following:
- Aluminum Angle Spill Berms
- Foam Wall Spill Berms
- Air Wall Spill Berms
- Spill Berms with Foam Wall Ends and Air Wall Sides
Since you will be using this spill containment berm specifically under a containment cabinet, the best option may be the aluminum angle model. This provides a rigid structure that will provide secure walls around your cabinet. Depending on what is being stored in your cabinet, different sizing may be required to keep all the contents in compliance with secondary containment requirements.
Additional Spill Protection Options
If you are only looking for a product to initial protect floors, you may also consider the use of a secondary containment liner. These liners come in materials ranging anywhere from HDPE to Urethane. Liners can be an excellent option for placement under cabinets to protect your hard wood floors or other storage areas.
As an innovative new option, you might also consider the use of a Cabinet Bladder System. This product includes a flammable storage cabinet, but places bladder underneath the cabinet in a built-in storage area. This will allow spills to flow directly into the bottom storage bladder, preventing them from spreading to floor areas.
