Floating Containment Barriers & Mats
Bridge & Dam Repair
When performing work on dams, bridges and large buildings, containment is often required to prevent the spreading of lead paint, debris, tools, and other contaminants that fall into the water during repair. The floating containment mat features a light weight flotation unit that can float on the surface of the water and install to dam walls, underneath bridges, and in other areas where items are prone to falling on top of the water.

Floating Containment Mat
The first method for dam debris containment is the floating containment mat. This containment mat is designed to float at the bottom of dam walls or underneath bridges to catch falling debris, asbestos, and tools during cleaning and repair.
Mats have a zero buoyancy functionality built into them, allowing them to stay afloat for the duration of their use. The often contain a series of flotation devices to help keep the unit level and effectively prevent water pollution.
Features:
- 6" Floatations (dotted lines)
- Rings require connection to anchor points
- Connected to Aluminum Bar
- Can be used in Areas with High Currents
- Zero Buoyancy
- Compact
- Sections Connect Together
- Rolls up for Easy Transportation
- Installs to Dam Walls
- Does not Block the Flow of Water
- Reliable Construction to Catch & Contain Items
Silt Barrier Containment Mat
Similar to the containment mat shown above is the floating silt barrier used as a flotation mat. Designed to catch the same materials, this silt barrier can be uniquely installed along the dam wall to act as floating mat for containment of fallen debris.
- Large Area for Containment
- Contains Built-In Flotation Device
- Skirt can Install Easily to Dam Wall
- Rolls up during Transportation
- Can be Towed into Installation Placement
- Does not Block the Flow of Water
When compared to a typical turbidity barrier installation, these barriers should be installed horizontally so they lie out like a flotation mat. Barriers should be attached to the dam wall by the skirt to keep the entire unit afloat.
