Dewatering Bag for Dewatering
Projects
Question: In need of dewatering recommendations. I am going to be drilling down 35 ft and need to filter the water before we pump it into storm drain. What do you recommend I use for dewatering?
Answer:
Thanks for contacting Granite Environmental with your inquiry. We'd be happy to give you some more information on dewatering bags as well as dewatering recommendations for you site. We can offer two options for dewatering operations:
- Dewatering-Bag for sediment, silt, sand, and other small particles
- Geotextile Sludge and Sediment Filter Tubes for dredging spoils, lagoon sludge and slurry
Both options can been an economical and effective way to keep within NPDES phase II and Clean Water Act compliance. This has helped sites avoid shut downs and/or fines for not removing material like sediment and organics from pumped water and possibly exceeding TSS permit levels. These bags have often been used as a best management practice on construction sites and other facilities.
For your specific application, normally a non woven dewatering bag is used. These Dewatering Bags are made from durable geotextile filtration fabric suitable for removal of sediment and oily waste water sheen. Each bag is sewn with multiple seams and can accommodate up to a 4" pipe in the hose sock making this the perfect filter bag whether you are pumping into a dumpster or on the ground!
Standard sizes start at 15' x 10' and go to 15' x 25'. We can custom manufacture if your specifications call for that.
