Granite Environmental offers a coir mat for every soil erosion control application. The coconut fiber, used in our coir erosion control mats, is a 100% natural product and biodegradable. This helps you increase vegetation and stabilization without harming the environment.

These strong coir erosion control mats support growth and development of vegetation by providing higher resistance.

These erosion control coir mats are designed to provide you with a natural way to control erosion in applications such as wetland restoration, streambank restoration, slope stabilization, and in areas with high flow channels.

Mats are typically designed with different life spans to address your temporary or long term needs.

 

Temporary Erosion Control: Our most temporary erosion control mats are made from wheat straw, jute, and wood materials and last 6 to 9 months. They are typically used as a short term solution to erosion control issues. Mats include:

• Jute Mats
• Straw Mat
• Excelsior Mat

 

Semi-Temporary Control: The next level of erosion control mats are designed to last 9 to 24 months. These mats have been made from wheat straw and/or coir materials and have been used to help establish vegetative growth. Mats include:

• Control Mat OCF 30: Mattress Coir stitched between two organic jute nets.

• Control Mat SCF 30: Mattress Coir stitched between two synthetic nets.

• Coir Straw Mat: 70% Wheat Straw and 30% Coconut Fiber, stitched between two synthetic nets.

 

Semi-Permanent Erosion Control: The semi-permanent coir mats are the most commonly used mats and are designed to last 4 to 6 years. High in strength and made from natural coir materials, these mats have been used in high flow areas where erosion control or restoration is essential. Mats include:

• Control Mat 40
• Control Mat 60
• Control Mat 70
• Control Mat 90

 

Permanent Control: If you are looking for permanent erosion control in your area, we also offer a UV stabilized synthetic fiber mat that contains heavy duty synthetic mats. These mats are not environmentally friendly and should not be used in wetlands or environmentally sensitive areas.
