Are your Oil Booms in One Piece or
Many Pieces Sewn Together?

Question regarding your oil booms: Are your oil containment booms in one piece or many pieces sewn together? Is the connection spill resistant? Is your product sewn or heat welded? Are damaged sections of a 100' repairable on-site or do you scrap entire section? Is your product guaranteed in anyway and is it made in USA?

I am researching the product for right now. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

(Zeeland, Michigan, USA)

Answer:

oil boomsThank you for contacting us! Like many of the products offered on our site, the oil spill boom is available in a couple of different styles and models. Depending on which of these models you choose, different features or repair options may be available.

In general, our standard Oil Containment Booms are made in sections. Individual sections of the boom will featuring heat welding. To create longer barriers, multiple sections will be connected together using some kind of marine grade connections. The standard sizes for these booms are typically 100 feet in length and 5 feet in depth. Since these booms are made specifically for an oil spill cleanup response, the connections are spill resistant.

Available options for repair of this oil containment boom will need to be assessed individually depending on what kind of damage is done. Due to the sensitive nature of oil spills, it always best to air on the side of caution to make sure that all materials are properly contained at all times.

Additional Oil Booms

The standard model described above it our typical oil boom and includes a top flotation device and short bottom skirt. In addition to this model, we also offer a couple of inflatable models that can help with containment. Inflatable models include:

  • Single Point Inflatable: Our most common inflatable model has a single point of inflation for fast deployment and setup. This allows the entire boom to be inflated and ready for use from a single source.

  • Isolated Chambers: In addition, we also offer an inflatable boom that contains separate inflating sections. This kind of a design is particularly well equipped for repair, as sections of the boom can be removed and replaced as needed.
